About Republic of North Macedonia
North Macedonia officially changed its name from the Republic of Macedonia on February 12, 2019. This change came after a long-standing dispute with Greece over the use of the name "Macedonia,"which Greece argued implied territorial claims to its own region of Macedonia. As part of a compromise agreement, the country agreed to change its name to North Macedonia, resolving the longstanding issue and paving the way for its integration into international organizations such as NATO and potentially the European Union.
